The host country of Eurovision 2023 has been officially announced

"Eurovision 2023" will not take place in Ukraine. The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has made the final decision to hold the contest in the UK. This was announced on the official website of the organizers.

"The European Broadcasting Union and the BBC have confirmed that the Eurovision Song Contest 2023" will be hosted by the United Kingdom on behalf of this year's winning broadcaster, the Ukrainian broadcaster UA Suspіlne”, the report says.

This decision was made after studying the possibility of hosting the contest in Ukraine. Unfortunately, it has been concluded that this is not possible for security reasons.

The host city competition will begin this week. Such cities as Aberdeen, Belfast, Birmingham, Brighton, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Newcastle, Nottingham, Sheffield, Swindon and Wolverhampton will compete.

Ukraine automatically will reach the Grand Final along with the “big five” (which includes the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain).
In addition, representatives of “UA: Suspіlne” will collaborate with the BBC to develop Ukrainian elements of the show.

“Eurovision Song Contest 2023” will take place not in Ukraine, but in support of Ukraine. We are grateful to our BBC partners for their solidarity with us. I am sure that together we will be able to add a Ukrainian spirit to this event and once again unite the whole of Europe around our common values of peace, support, celebration of diversity and talent,” said Mykola Chernotitsky, head of the board of the NSTU.

Recall that British Sam Ryder with the song Space Man took second place in the competition. The first place was taken by KALUSH Orchestra with the song "Stefania".
