Hezbollah launched UAV towards Karish field

The Hezbollah terrorist group launched three UAVs towards the Karish gas field in Israeli waters.

The IDF intercepted three UAVs flying from Lebanon over the Mediterranean towards Israel.

According to Walla, one drone was intercepted and shot down by a fighter aircraft, and two others by a Barak 8 naval medium-range anti-aircraft missile system from Navy ships guarding the Karish platform.

According to The Jerusalem Post , this was the first time the Barak 8 was used against aerial threats.

The IDF said the UAVs were not armed and the drilling rig was not in danger. The drones were identified by detection systems and tracked throughout the flight by the Israeli military. The UAVs were intercepted at the most suitable operational point.

The possible target of the attack is an attempt to damage stability and negotiations on the demarcation of maritime borders.
