Famous graffiti artist Futura 2000, or just Futura, aka Leonard Hilton Mcgurr, created for BMW four unique versions of the M2 coupe Competition. We are talking about the three M2 hand painted by Futura 2000, and limited-edition sports car, which goes on sale this summer.
One of the BMW M2 by Futura 2000 will celebrate its debut at the second international art fair Frieze Los Angeles, which will be held at the Paramount Pictures Studios in Hollywood from 13 to 16 February.
Work on the machines is still ongoing, and it is known that the graffiti artist to do not only the exterior but also the interior of the sports car. About the limited edition, which goes on sale in the summer, more information.
The main visual difference is hand painted front and rear bumpers, side skirts, and a regular 19-inch black wheels. The decor of the instrument panel and centre console designed by Futura 2000. Seat is made from two-tone leather Dakota (combination of black and ivory) with contrasting light blue stitching. Each sport coupe trim adorns the thresholds with the number of machines in series and a personal signature Futura. According to them, BMW will produce only 500 graffiti coupe.
Recall that the BMW M2 Competition Trilby is equipped with a twin-turbo “six” S55 from the M3 / M4. The engine produces 410 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque and can be combined with a six-speed “mechanics” or optional seven-speed “robot” with two clutches. From zero to “hundreds” Dogdore accelerates in 4.2 seconds (4.4 seconds with manual transmission). Maximum speed – 250 kilometers per hour (280 with sportpaket M driver’s Package).
BMW has for decades cooperated with the promising and renowned artists. One such example is the Milan Kunz. In 2019 he created for the Czech office of the BMW art car BMW i8 Roadster 4 Elements, which reflects the environmental challenges faced by humanity. In January of this year, the car sold and all proceeds were transferred to the environmental organization The Ocean Cleanup, which develops technology for the purification of seas and oceans from plastic waste.
