At the end of February – In early March, for the first time in Israel, the New York dance troupe Gibney Company will tour. On February 28, March 1 and 2, the stage of the Suzanne Delalle Center in Tel Aviv will present performances by outstanding contemporary choreographers with whom the world's best ballet companies collaborate – Sharon Eyal, Sonia Taye and Johan Inger. The tour is organized by the MART Foundation.

New York Dance Company Gibney was created in 1991 by choreographer Gina Gibney. From a small group performing the compositions of its founder, Gibney has grown into a professional contemporary dance troupe, recognized in the US and abroad, while at the same time actively continuing its social and educational activities. The company tours the world with the works of the most famous choreographers.
The Israeli tour program included three productions from the repertoire of the Gibney Company. On the first day of the tour, February 28, there will be a Q&A evening at the end of the show. Q&A with Gina Gibney, Company Director Gilbert T. Small II and Artistic Director of the Suzanne Delalle Center Naomi Perlov, who will moderate the talk.

Sara

World premiere – 2013, Gibney Company premiere – 2023.
It is not often possible to see productions by Israeli Sharon Eyal and her constant collaborator Guy Behar in Israel: being one of the most sought-after contemporary choreographers, Eyal and Behar are elusive and tour more than they are at home. The Gibney Company will perform for the first time the composition Sara, which was updated for the dancers of the troupe with the support of the MART Foundation at the end of 2022 and has not yet been performed on any stage in the world. Sara is a minimalistic, gentle, full of emotions and experiences, but at the same time uncompromising and true to tradition dance. In it – restraint and attention to detail, the maximum of meanings conveyed by a minimum of means. Music – From Off to On by The Knife.

Bliss
Choreographer – Johan Inger
World premiere – 2016, Gibney Company premiere – 2022.
Johan Inger was born in Stockholm and trained at the Royal Swedish Academy of Dance and the National Ballet Academy of Canada. He was a soloist with the Royal Swedish Ballet and spent 12 years in the legendary Dutch Dance Theater – NDT 1. For the production of Bliss, the Swedish choreographer Johan Inger chose the legendary Cologne Concerto. American jazz pianist Keith Jarrett. For many, this work serves as a standard of virtuoso performance. The choreographer abandoned the literal embodiment of music in dance, this is an attempt to convey the feeling of Jarrett's famous improvisations. Freedom, dizziness, ecstasy – these images find expression in a beautiful dance composition that brings not only the listeners, but also the audience into a state of absolute bliss.

Oh Courage !
Sonya Taye
World premiere in 2021.
Choreographer from New York Sonia Taye – winner of the prestigious American theater award “Tony” (Tony Awards) – Works with artists such as Miley Cyrus, Florence and the Machine, Kylie Minogue and many more. Oh Courage! It was created specifically for the Gibney Company. This is a play about truth, self-reflection and resilience. The production was made possible with the support of Andrew Davis and the Shelby Cullom Davis Charitable Foundation, the Mertz Gilmore Foundation, the New York State Council for the Arts, the O’Donnell Green Music and Dance Foundation, and the Omomuki Foundation.
