 Giant sequoias in California are in danger

A spreading wildfire in California is threatening a large grove of giant sequoias in Yosemite National Park.

The fire has doubled in size in the past 24 hours, The fire has already destroyed 1,591 acres of territory, according to the BBC.

The fire, which began on July 7, threatens at least 500 giant sequoias in Mariposa Grove. So far, not a single sequoia has been destroyed by fire.

Firefighters work in hard-to-reach places to protect trees from fire.
