Germany has chosen the anti-word of 2021

According to DW, in Germany they chose the anti-word of the past year – anglicism about migrants “pushback” turned out to be such a word.

This word has several meanings that differ from the context. Pushback can mean “repulsion”, “refusal”, “towing”. In Germany, this term began to be actively used after the mass and sometimes violent expulsion of refugees and migrants from the EU borders without consideration of their asylum applications.
