‘German-Jewish singer Gil Ofarim has to take off the Star of David necklace in hotel’ | Stars
Ofarim, who two years ago participated in the German version of The Masked Singer, posted images on Instagram in which he says a hotel reception employee called on him to remove the Star of David, a Jewish symbol, before he could be checked in. He was said to have been ignored for fifteen minutes, while other guests were helped.
The video sparked outrage among Jewish organizations, among others. The police are investigating whether there was actually hatred of Jews. “If it has been said, it is clearly anti-Semitism,” said a spokesman.

The management of the Westin hotel involved says they are taking the incident extremely seriously. According to German media, employees have been sent home.
Gil is the son of the late Israeli singer Abi Ofarim, who was internationally known especially in the 1960s with his then wife Esther as the singing duo Esther & Abi Ofarim. The couple scored a number 1 hit in the Netherlands with the song Cinderella Rockefella (1968).
