French ski resort is Europe's first smoke-free resort

The French ski resort of Les Gets was the first in Europe to introduce a ban on smoking.

According to The Mirror, since December 17, smoking has been banned in the ski area and ski resorts. Les Gets ski lifts in Haute-Savoie.

It is noted that the ban was introduced to reduce the amount of garbage on the mountain. In 2022, more than 3,000 cigarette butts were collected in the ski resort and in the village.

Ski enthusiasts looking to smoke should take note of the five smoking areas where smoking is allowed. Ashtrays made from recycled skis by the Skitec cooperative will be available in these areas.
