The iconic Orient Express, the iconic luxury train that has run from Paris to Istanbul since 1883, is back on track.
that this will happen in 2024 before the start of the Summer Olympic Games in the French capital, writes The Warsaw.
Orient Express on the initial route Paris-Istanbul ran from 1883 to 1977. Later, his route was reduced to Bucharest, Budapest and Vienna, until he completely disappeared from the schedule. The original wagons of the famous train were found in Poland seven years ago. At the Malashevichi transshipment point, not far from the Terespol-Brest border crossing, 17 original Orient Express carriages were found. This paved the way for his triumphant return.
Among the exclusive cars found at the Malaszewicze railway station were 12 sleeping cars, 3 lounge cars and a dining car with original Art Deco decor.
In subsequent years, all parts of the train found in Poland were sent to France. Experts are working on their restoration. The carriages are being restored by the Paris design studio Maxime d'Angeac.
