|
Israeli scientists tested the first drug “Aducanumab” for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease.
According to the portal “ Aruts Sheva '', it is infused and based on the introduction of a solution into the bloodstream.
“I hope this marks the beginning of a new era in which Alzheimer's patients can receive treatment that will delay cognitive decline and allow them to improve their quality of life over time '', & ndash; said Dr. Noah Bergman.
According to him, the first Israeli in the Ichilov hospital who received the medicine was a 57-year-old man.
“When I was asked to start new treatment, I didn't hesitate for a second. I know that I will not be able to return to normal life, but I am still young, I have goals and dreams. I hope that the new treatment will help me to make them “, & ndash; said the patient.
Recall that in June 2021 the drug Aducanumab has been approved by the American Food and Drug Administration (FDA). It is developed by Biogen. As specified, Aducanumab affects the underlying causes, not the symptoms of Alzheimer's.
