Uber has delivered food to space, the first in the history of mankind. However, it was not a courier who delivered the food package, but a space tourist.
“Today we are proud to announce that Uber Eats has delivered our first ever food delivery to space. Expanding our global presence beyond the surface of the Earth has been an old dream, and we are delighted to be part of a little piece of history, '' writes Uber Eats.
A food bag was handed to a space tourist from Japan, Yusaku Maezawa. which went to the International Space Station (ISS) at the beginning of the month. Already on December 11, the astronauts received their order, which contained canned Japanese dishes, namely:
boiled mackerel in miso;
beef cooked in a sweet sauce;
stewed chicken with bamboo shoots;
To celebrate this historic step, the company decided to give a 10% discount to the first 24,800 people to order from $ 20. The fact is that the ISS is exactly 248 miles (about 400 km) from the Earth's surface. The delivery lasted for 8 hours and 34 minutes.
“Our goal is to help people get anywhere and get anything, so we are proud to serve even astronauts on the International Space Station,” notes press service.
