Organizers have canceled the MWC 2020
The largest international mobile industry exhibition Mobile World Congress, which was held in Barcelona from 24 to 27 February, was cancelled after companies began to massively refuse to participate in it because of the threat of coronavirus. This decision was made by the GSM Association which is the organizer of the event.
Note that the MWC will cancel for the first time in 33 years.
“Paying due attention to a safe and healthy environment in Barcelona and the host country, abolished the GSMA MWC Barcelona 2020 because of global concern about the outbreak of coronavirus, the problems with travel and other circumstances make it impossible to hold the event. Host parties respect and understand this decision. GSMA and the receiving party will continue to cooperate and support each other in preparing for MWC Barcelona 2021 and subsequent exhibitions. We extend our condolences to all those affected in China and worldwide”, – says the official address of the head of the GSMA John Hoffman (John Hoffman).
In 2020, the MWC will not be held
The organizers of the event tried to allay fears by using the published on the website recommendations, as well as enhanced measures such as the prohibition to visit the exhibition the residents of Wuhan, where it was first discovered coronavirus. But apparently it didn’t work. From participation in the MWC declined more than 20 companies, including LG, ZTE, Ericsson, Sony, NVIDIA, Amazon, Vivo, Nokia, Intel and others.
