First case of monkeypox recorded in Russia

The first case of monkeypox infection has been recorded in Russia. The disease was detected in a young man who returned from a trip to Europe, where the outbreak of this disease began. This is reported by Rospotrebnadzor.

The guy went to a medical facility with a characteristic rash. His illness is mild, there is no threat to life. Now he is isolated in the infectious disease ward.

The circle of contacts of the sick person during his stay in Russia was limited. He lived alone in the apartment. All contact persons are under medical supervision.

Rospotrebnadzor assures that the possibility of spreading the infection across the Russian Federation has been stopped, especially since smallpox vaccination helps to fight monkeypox.
