Nineteen-year-old Shaked Nisimyan became the first Israeli to win a gold medal at the MMA World Championships.
In Serbia on February 16, she won the Under-21 Championship. .
The Israeli competed in the 70 kg weight category. Her sister, Roni, also competed in the tournament, winning the event after three rounds against an Uzbek opponent.
“I'm so excited to win Israel's first gold medal in MMA with my amazing coaches. I heard our anthem, this time in a new format for me. It was just a hint that there are many exciting moments ahead of us that will come with God's help”, — commented the newly minted champion.
Remarkably, she joined mixed martial arts only a few months ago. Previously, Nisimyan was engaged in jiu-jitsu, winning the title of European champion.
