Fans of The Lord of the Rings are in for a few new films

Warner Bros has confirmed that new Lord of the Rings films will be coming out in the next few years, according to Warner Bros CEO David Zaslav, BBC writes.
The original films, which starred Sir Ian McKellen, Elijah Wood and Orlando Bloom, grossed about $3 billion at the box office.
They also won several Oscars, and The Return of the King 2004 was named Best Picture and director Peter Jackson was named Best Director.

Work on the second season of the series began in October last year.
The Swedish game company Embracer Group last year acquired the rights to adapt the works of the author J. R. R. Tolkien , including "The Lord of the Rings" and The Hobbit.
Lee Ginchard, who runs Embracer, said the company is “thrilled” from working with Warner Bros as well as New Line Cinema, which produced the three previous Lord of the Rings films.
Ginchard said in a statement that the company is “bringing back the incomparable world of J.R.R. Tolkien to the big screen in new and exciting ways.”
The new films are expected to cover the content of the books, rather than re-screenings of previously released films.
