Famous American singerR. Kelly, the author of the hit “I believe I can fly”, was sentenced to 30 years in prison for using his celebrity status to sexually abuse children and women.
US District Judge Ann Donnelly said the celebrity used sex weapons, forcing their victims to do terrible things, according to the Air Force.
“You taught them that love is enslavement and violence,” the judge said.
The federal prosecutor's office recommended to sentence Kelly to more than 25 years in prison, given the seriousness of his crimes. The singer's lawyers insisted on a lighter sentence of 10 years. According to the defense, the singer was “devastated” after the verdict and expressed his intention to appeal.
