Famous rock musician Meat Loaf has died in the United States. He died surrounded by family at the age of 74. The cause of the artist's death has not been released. The death of the outstanding musician was announced on his official Facebook page.

“Our hearts are broken. We inform you that the incomparable Meat Loaf passed away surrounded by his wife Deborah, daughters Pearl and Amanda and close friends,” the message said.

In a nearly 60-year career, Meat Loaf has sold over 100 million albums, starred in 65 films, and his Bat Out of Hell is still one of the top 10 best-selling albums of all time.

Meat Loaf (real name Michael Lee Adey was born on September 27, 1947 in Dallas. The artist's mother died of cancer when he was 15 years old, and his father suffered from alcoholism. In 1967, Marvin was forced to leave home because his drunken father attacked him with a knife.

At first he worked as a bouncer in a nightclub, and then in Los Angeles he founded his first band – Meat Loaf Soul. The line-up often changed in the group, and at different concerts the musicians even changed the name of the group.

Since 1971, the band began to gain popularity and became known not only in the United States, but also outside the country. Over the years of the band's existence, more than 20 albums have been recorded, some of them – solo.

In the 1990s, his hit I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That) became the best-selling single of 1993 in the UK and earned him a Grammy Award.

Meat Loaf also actively acted in films. He has such famous films as “Bluff”, “Tales from the Crypt”, “Fight Club”, “Masters of Horror” on his account. and House M.D.
