Explosion in Pakistani mosque: the terrorist was in a police uniform

Police said the man who attacked a mosque in the Pakistani city of Peshawar on Monday used a police uniform to enter the area.

The main gate of the protected area where the mosque is located, BBC reported.

Police Chief Moazzam Jah Ansari said officers were unable to verify the attacker as they assumed he was one of them.

“I admit that this was a security breach. My people couldn't stop it. It's my fault,” he said.

He explained that the police were able to trace the terrorist on a motorcycle to the attack using CCTV footage. When the terrorist parked his motorcycle, he was “in police uniform, wearing a mask and helmet.” Entering the territory, the attacker asked the constable where the mosque was.
