According to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, at least six people were killed and 53 injured in an explosion on a central street in Istanbul on Sunday afternoon. No Israelis were injured or killed.
Turkey's Anadolu news agency said the cause of the blast is still unknown, although CCTV footage from the scene shows a backpack left at the scene detonating.
Turkish government officials According to RTUK media, the information about the explosion is not to be disclosed by the decision of the authorities. An investigation into the incident in connection with terrorism was launched by the Istanbul Chief Prosecutor's Office.
According to NetBlocks Internet surveillance, access to Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Facebook in Turkey has been restricted since the explosion.
