Execution of five Palestinians in Gaza: UN condemns Hamas

The United Nations condemned the events in Gaza, where five Palestinians were executed by Hamas. The UN called it a “gross violation” “We condemn the execution of five prisoners in Gaza and call on the de facto authorities in Gaza to impose a moratorium on all executions,” UN Human Rights Office spokesperson Ravina Shamdasani said.< br />
She also urged the PA authorities to “take decisive action to abolish the death penalty throughout its territory.”

Shamdasani said there are serious concerns that the criminal trials resulting death sentences in Gaza do not meet international standards for a fair trial.

Five people were executed yesterday in Gaza: two for “collaboration”; with Israel and three for the murders.
