 EU Ambassador:

Representative of the European Union Sven Kühn von Burgsdorf gave an impassioned speech Tuesday at the Alliance for peace in the Middle East, which took place in Jerusalem.

Referring to the wave of terrorist attacks that have shaken the country since the beginning of the year, Burgsdorf said it should come as no surprise given the depth of Palestinian suffering due to the 74- years of conflict with Israel.

“What does a child who lives next to the separation wall think about when he sees the destroyed houses of his parents and brothers and sisters? What hatred burns in him? What do you think will happen when he grows up? – Burgsdorf addressed the conference participants.

Burgsdorf noted the heavy Palestinian losses as a result of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the particular danger that exists now, given the lack of any steps towards a peaceful settlement.

As an example, he said that thousands of Palestinians had been killed since 2008, without specifying whether they were Palestinian militants, terrorists, rioters, or civilians killed in the three wars in Gaza.

Sven Kühn von Burgsdorf believes that it is necessary to draw the attention of the whole world to the plight of the people of Palestine, in which they have been for the last 74 years since the beginning of the War of Independence in 1948.

“The truth must be told. Without truth there is no responsibility, without responsibility there is no justice, without justice there is no peace. he added.
He urged the Biden administration and the 27 EU member states to “act now and wait no longer.”
