Ethiopian army recaptured the city from the UNESCO list

The Ethiopian army recaptured the city of Lalibela, which is included in the UNESCO list.

This is reported by Interfax with reference to the statement released by the office of the Prime Minister of the country.

“The historic city of Lalibela has been liberated and cleared from the occupation of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Tigraya,” the statement said.

Also it is clarified that the army has established full control over the airport.

According to the news agency, Lalibela is an important religious center for Ethiopian Christians. The city is famous for two complexes of churches, which are included in the UNESCO list.
