The State Ballet of Berlin has temporarily suspended the show of the classic production of The Nutcracker.
Acting artistic director of the troupe Christian Theobald told Bild in an interview with Bild that this decision was made due to allegedly “ politically incorrect episodes. ''
“In the original version of the ballet, two children appear on stage wearing makeup that imitates dark skin. This is now called blackface. & lt; & hellip; & gt; The same applies to the oriental dance with the harem concubines and the soloist, whose body is covered with dark make-up. These are all things that can no longer be released on stage without explanation '', & mdash; she said.
