 Enrollment for gifted programs has begun

Enrollment in programs for gifted students – "Alpha", "Odyssey" and "Idea" – at it's peak. These programs are a joint initiative of the Ministry of Education and the Center for Future Scientists for Talented and Gifted Children of the Maimonides Foundation. Honors students and gifted students from all over the country can sign up for these unique projects.

The Ministry of Education and the Center for Scientists of the Future encourage excellent students, and even those who were not defined as “gifted” in the past, to enroll in the program and pass an exam, according to the results of which they will be able to become participants in the Alpha, Odyssey programs ; or “Idea”.

Program “Alpha”: intended for gifted children. Its goal is to enrich scientific knowledge, get acquainted with scientific research at a high level and acquire the necessary skills for independent work in the scientific field. In addition, "Alpha" offers students not only an intellectual experience, but also the development of teamwork skills.

As part of the program, participants get the opportunity to work with scientists in innovative laboratories and explore in depth areas of interest to them. Throughout the project, students write scientific papers that can replace matriculation exams (bagrut).
For graduates of the 8th grade (“het”) “Alpha” – a three-year program for graduates of the 9th grade ("tet") – biennial. The project will start at the beginning of the next academic year (2023-2024) at the following institutions: Ariel University in Samaria (girls only), Bar Ilan University, Tel Aviv University, Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Technion in Haifa, Weizmann Institute in Rehovot , Ben Gurion University Beersheba.

Idea Programis a unique program designed for gifted students graduating 9th grade this academic year in the area of humanities.

Within the framework of the program, students, among other things, write a research paper, which can be equated to a school subject for 5 units (ekhidot), and which will be taken into account in the matriculation certificate (bagrut). The program will start at the beginning of the next academic year (2023-2024) at Tel Aviv University and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

The Odyssey Program: The Odyssey Program was formed with the aim of creating suitable conditions for young talents in the field of science and technology, to form an outstanding scientific team – a new generation of leaders – inventors and scientists of Israelis with a social consciousness.
"Odyssey" is intended for excellent students and outstanding students who this year began studying in the 8th (“hat”) grade, for students with high academic, scientific, technological and mathematical abilities, with creative thinking and an extraordinary mindset, who are not afraid of difficult tasks who want to spend time after school inventively and with interest.

 Registration for programs has begun for gifted children

The duration of the study program “Odyssey” – 4 years – from the 9th (“tet”) to the 12th grade. The program involves studying at the academy in the field of exact sciences along with work in research laboratories. Students acquire knowledge and skills in research work and experience in solving extraordinary problems, as well as accumulate academic credits.

Project selection and studies are conducted at Tel Aviv University, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Ben Gurion University in Beer Sheva, the Technion in Haifa, Bar Ilan University and Tel Hai Academic College. The content of the programs may differ from each other – depending on the university. You can enroll in only one educational institution, where the study will take place within the framework of the project.
