Russian director Kirill Serebrennikov launched the “Letters for Leah” campaign in support of actress Leah Akhedzhakova, whom the management of the Moscow theater “Sovremennik” decided to remove The Gin Game from the repertoire.

He wrote about this on Telegram.

“Everything that happened in the last two days with the legend of the Russian theater and film by Leah Akhedzhakova, we consider it unacceptable, nasty and vile. We suggest that you write letters for Liya Medzhidovna, and we will print them out and give them to her personally,” the director wrote.

According to Serebrennikov, his team will send these letters to the Sovremennik Theatre, because the “boss there” complains about the alleged shaft of “negative letters” from the audience, which became a formal reason to remove all performances from the People's Artist from the repertoire.

“Write letters! We need to talk about love! This is very important,” he added.
