Rolls-Royce Unveils Early Development of Space Nuclear Reactor

The company is collaborating with the UK Space Agency on options for using nuclear power in spaceflight.

The energy of nuclear fission, released when atoms split, can be used to power on the Moon or Mars. The Rolls-Royce microreactor could also reduce the flight time to the Red Planet, which lasts from six to nine months.
