Despite the fire at the headquarters of the Hapoel football club, the match took place

Last week “Hapoel Tel Aviv” was sold to an American group of investors after a decade of unsatisfactory results in the championship.

The incident occurred just hours before Hapoel Tel Aviv's was supposed to start the match against “Beitar Jerusalem” within the Premier League. Although Hapoel officials asked the league to postpone the competition, the game went on as scheduled, and Beitar offered to help his opponent in holding the game day.

“We call on the fans of both teams to respect each other and the players”,– the league said in a statement.

Culture and Sports Minister Miki Zohar attended the bout Sunday night at Teddy Stadium.
“We will not tolerate any form of violence in sports. We need to increase security in today's game”, – said Zohar.

“Hapoel” beat “Beitar” with a score of 3:1
