Death toll in Turkey and Syria nears 2,000

In Turkey and Syria, the total number of deaths as a result of powerful earthquakes has already exceeded 1900 people.
In Turkey, 1121 people were reported dead, in Syria another 783 people.< br />
Thus, the total number of victims in the two affected countries amounted to 1904 people. As rescue operations continue with many people trapped under the rubble, the toll is likely to continue to rise.
