The Jerusalem District Court partially satisfied the claim of the Gross family, which in 2014 lost two children (one and a half year old Yael and 4-year-old Avigail) due to the negligence of a disinsection specialist.
According to The Times of Israel, the court ruled that the exterminator Yosef Barkan and the Terem ambulance station must pay the Gross family compensation in the amount of almost NIS 3.5 million (this amount includes legal costs).
The court found that Barkan used a prohibited chemical, and the doctors at the Terem medical center, where were approached by parents, misdiagnosed despite being told about the chemicals. The court's decision states that the infirmary could have prevented the death of children.
“ There is no price to pay for a life that was interrupted at such a young age, but there is little consolation that the court has set standards of conduct that can prevent similar cases from recurring in the future, '' the lawyers of the Gross family said.
Recall that in 2017, Yosef Barkan was sentenced to three years in prison, but in 2019 he was already released.
