A football match at the Kanjurukhan Stadium in the city of Malang in Indonesia ended in the death of more than a hundred people.

According to the Chief Inspector of the East Java Province Police Niko Afinta, after the defeat of the Arema FC team, its fans took to the field to “teach a lesson” losers.

The police tried to stop the rebels, but they began to attack the officers, a mass brawl ensued. People tried to escape, but due to the resulting crush, about 179 people were trampled down, another 180 were injured. According to local doctors, a five-year-old child was among the dead.

Police used tear gas to disperse the brawlers.
