Cultural figures condemn Sydney festival boycott over Israel
Over 120 cultural figures condemned the boycott of the festival in Sydney, which kicked off on Thursday.
They signed a letter to that effect.
About 30 artists withdrew from the festival because it was organized in collaboration with the Israeli Embassy.
“ The cultural boycott of the Sydney Festival is an insult to both Palestinians and Israelis who work to promote peace through compromise, exchange and mutual recognition. While we may all have different opinions about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the path to peace, we all agree that a cultural boycott is & ndash; this is not the answer & quot ;, & mdash; said in the letter.
