The iconic American writer and playwright Joan Didion, who wrote the movie A Star is Born, has died at the age of 87 at her home in Manhattan.

According to the Knopf publishing house, which published the works of the writer, the cause of death was Parkinson's disease.
Didion became famous in the 1960s thanks to publications in such publications, like The Saturday, Life, Evening Post, Esquire and The New York Times.
She has written about Hollywood, the California counterculture, and the social processes of that era.
