COVID Coordinator urges Israelis to wear masks

< p>

Coordinator for the fight against coronavirus, Professor Salman Zarka, called on the Israeli public to wear protective masks indoors, in particular on public transport and in other crowded places.

This is reported by The Jerusalem Post.

According to him, if the public does not listen and comply with this request, the government will soon consider the issue of mandatory wearing of masks indoors.

Zarka emphasized that strain BA.5 is more contagious than the previous ones. According to the professor, people who have recovered from the coronavirus and are fully vaccinated are not protected from infection.

“People over 60 years old and other people of any age with a weak immune system or suffering from chronic diseases are most at risk from the latest strain. Geriatric institutions, hospitals and health funds that hospitalize their patients at home are reporting a significant increase in the number of patients. We feel that we can continue to lead a normal life, but we need people to wear masks, attend small events and protect the elderly and other risk groups,” said Salman Zarqa.
