COVID-19 can be spread by mail
Three weeks are left before the opening of the Beijing Olympics, and in China, citizens have begun to urge citizens to open packages and letters wearing a mask and gloves, as there was speculation that the first case of Omicron arrived in the country along with a package from Canada. The first patient with the new strain claimed to have received a package from Canada that arrived in China via Canada and Hong Kong.
Chinese authorities are pushing for full vaccination of postal employees and promising to increase disinfection at pick-up and drop-off points.
State broadcaster CCTV appealed to citizens to minimize purchases abroad, as well as mail.
