China bans censorship of cult film

Censorship of cult film removed in China

Chinese streaming service Tencent Video first aired David Fincher's film Fight Club with a modified ending, but later returned the original plot to the cult film after censorship outraged Chinese social media users.

According to The Hollywood Reporter.

Tencent Video originally cut the ending 12 minutes of the tape, where the main character does not have time to prevent the attacks and watches them with his beloved. Instead, credits were shown showing the conspiracy unraveled and Tyler committed to a psychiatric hospital.

After the news of the change in the ending of the picture caused outrage on social networks, Tencent Video returned 11 of the 12 minutes of the original running time. The remaining minute contains explicit scenes.
