 Catalonia to rehabilitate those executed for witchcraft

The Parliament of Catalonia adopted a resolution according to which the good memory of women convicted of witchcraft in the Middle Ages will be restored. Also, executions will now be considered a “misogynistic crime”.

This is reported by the Spanish Broadcasting and Television Corporation (RTVE).

Parliament called on the municipalities of Catalonia to revise the list of names of streets and alleys and include the names of women convicted of witchcraft in local place names for “historical restoration and feminization”; place names.

The deputies also called for the scientific study of witch hunting from a gender perspective and the inclusion of this topic in the curriculum.
