The Minister of foreign Affairs of Canada Chrystia Freeland announced the temporary closure of the canadian Embassy in Venezuela.
According to Freeland, “mode Maduro has done everything to complicate the work of diplomats of other countries,” reports the Chronicle.info with reference to ukrinform.ru.
“Unfortunately, until the end of June, our diplomats at the Embassy in Venezuela is no longer able to work due to the fact that the Maduro regime has not continued accreditation. We have no other choice but to temporarily close our Embassy,” said Freeland.
She noted that the people of Venezuela can contact the Embassy of Canada to Colombia.
Recall: in may 2018, Venezuela held presidential elections. According to the CEC of the country, the acting President Nicolas Maduro won, gaining about 70% of the votes, while the opposition boycotted the elections.
In January amid mass protests against Maduro, President of the National Assembly of Venezuela Juan Guido declared himself acting President of the country.
