 Canada: Eight teenage girls killed a homeless man

According to Canadian police, eight teenage girls have been charged with the murder of a 59-year-old man in Toronto.

Girls aged 13 to 16 are accused of they stabbed the victim. The unidentified man was living in a homeless shelter at the time of the attack, BBC reported.

A group of bystanders called emergency services after they found the man stabbed shortly after midnight on Sunday. The victim died in the hospital.

The girls were arrested near the scene of the attack. According to Detective Sergeant Terry Brown, they met through social media, and three of them had previous contact with the police.

A resident of a nearby homeless shelter told CBC Toronto that a man was stabbed in the stomach after trying to protect her when the girls approached her for alcohol.
