California declares state of emergency due to monkeypox

The US state of California has declared a state of emergency due to an outbreak of monkeypox. This is the second state to declare a state of emergency after New York.

“California is urgently working at all levels of government to slow the spread of monkeypox,” — Gov. Gavin News said in a statement.

He said authorities will take care of those at risk by providing vaccines and tests.

As of Thursday, nearly 800 cases have been confirmed or suspected in California.
