Bulgaria stops issuing visas to Russian tourists

The Consulate of Bulgaria in Moscow reported that it does not accept documents for issuing visas for tourists and property owners due to the “current emergency”. The consulate does not specify when visa issuance will resume.

Bulgarian visa centers in Moscow, Yekaterinburg and St. Petersburg have not been working since the end of March due to “technical reasons”. Until today, the documents were processed by the Consulate General of Bulgaria. Now the Russians have blocked this opportunity to get permission to enter Bulgaria.

The diplomatic conflict between Russia and Bulgaria has been gaining momentum since Sofia decided to expel 70 Russian diplomats and the technical staff of Russian missions, including Russian consuls general in Varna and Ruse.

In response, Moscow declared 14 employees of the Bulgarian diplomatic missions in Russia persona non grata.

Due to a shortage of staff, the Consulate General of Russia in Ruse and Bulgaria in Yekaterinburg temporarily closed .
