Named by Father Yehudit leader Itamar Ben-Gvir” “warrior from the Negev”, Cohen is a right-wing activist who organized an armed civilian patrol in the Negev. Cohen served for about ten years in the Israeli police.
Before being elected to the Knesset, Cohen deleted his Facebook and Twitter accounts, but before that, he was active on social media.
He once called Israeli police officers “the war dogs of post-Nazism.” and called the Tel Aviv Gay Pride “an all animal parade of unbridled and unbridled sex at parties with harassment of boys and minors” and “the shocking spectacle of sick pornography.”
Cohen also expressed support for Putin on the eve of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. “We learned from him what leadership is — make a decision and the world will explode”, — he tweeted during the invasion.
