German tennis star Boris Becker, 55, has been released from a British prison, meaning he is now expected to be deported from the country, according to Reuters.
In April, Becker, a six-time Grand Slam champion, was sentenced by a London court to two years and six months in prison for hiding assets worth hundreds of thousands of pounds after he was declared bankrupt.
&ldquo ;Any foreign citizen convicted of a crime and sentenced to prison is treated as subject to deportation at the first opportunity, —
Becker was previously convicted of tax evasion in Germany in 2002, for which he received a suspended prison sentence.
Becker denied all allegations related to the London litigation, saying that he cooperated with the bankruptcy proceedings – even offered his engagement ring – and relied on his advisors.
