Blizzard banned the Ukrainian team from using the name Azov

Blizzard has changed the name of the Ukrainian team Azov in Diablo Immortal. Representatives of the company said that such a step was taken due to the fact that Azov is “associated with neo-Nazi and far-right movements.” One of the players said that his team Azov was renamed, and his personal account was blocked for a day.

The Ukrainian turned to support, stating that Azov is not only the name of the regiment, but also the geographical name, to which he was answered with the following :

“Because the name Azov resembles the name of the Azov Regiment, which has attracted controversy due to its early ostensible ties to far-right groups and neo-Nazi ideology, the use of conflicting symbolism associated with Nazism, and claims that members of the group participated in torture and war crimes. We don't allow anything like this in our games."
