Berlin Film Festival has prepared a surprise for the audience

Berlinale 2022 Film Festival will be held on February 10-20 “according to a new concept” – partly in the presence of spectators, partly – online. This was reported on the festival website.

Due to the pandemic, the Berlinale changed its format and concept: the festival will begin on February 10 with a grand opening at the Berlinale Palast, after which, until February 16, film teams will personally present their films to the public and accredited audiences at the premieres in different cinemas of the festival. On the evening of February 16, the awards ceremony for the Gold and Silver Bears and the GWFF will take place, the organizers said.

From 17 to 20 February, reruns will take place in all cinemas in Berlinale (at the usual standard ticket price of 10 euros).

This year the film screenings will be held in strict compliance with the current rules of hygiene. However, in the light of the latest decisions of the Federal Government and the Berlin Senate, the previously developed hygiene and safety measures have been revised once again so that the 2022 festival can be held in 2G-plus mode (vaccination plus negative test and mask mode).

In addition to reducing the part of the festival, which consists of presentations, the new concept also implies a fundamental reduction in the number of seats in cinemas by up to 50 percent.

There will be no parties or receptions, but there will be a chance for film teams to appear in a reduced format on the red carpet or other premiere cinemas in front of the press, “ which will help create a touch of traditional festival atmosphere. ''

Such parts of the festival as the European Film Market, Berlinale Co-production Market, Berlinale Talents and World Cinema Fund will be held online & ndash; between February 10 and 17.
