Ben Gurion Airport Director Shmuel Zakai quits after 12 years

Shmuel Zakai, director of Ben Gurion Domestic Airport, has decided to step down from the post he has held for the past 12 years.

The resignation was submitted due to the critical level of problems that air travel has been facing in recent times.

The aviation industry in Israel and around the world is struggling to cope with a large number of passengers after two years of restrictions, related to COVID. The increase in travel far outstrips recruitment after most workers were laid off during the pandemic.
