A terrorist who attacked in Beersheba was stopped by bus driver Artur Khaimov. The man told Channel 12 his version of the incident, according to The Times of Israel.

According to him, he drove up to the interchange near the BIG shopping center and at first thought that there had been an accident.

“When I got there, I thought what should I do, how should I get there. At that moment, I did not see the terrorist. I saw how people gathered, and I saw someone near the car with a knife, waving it .I looked and thought, “Maybe he has a knife.” I wanted to double-check to make sure I didn't mistakenly assume he was a terrorist.

I got out of the car, took my weapon, walked closer and saw that he had a knife. I saw a man who was wounded. I said several times: “I ask you to put down the knife. I will not shoot you. He said no,” says Artur Khaimov.

Arthur Khaimov admitted that at that moment he did not know that the man in front of him had killed and wounded several people. He stated that he only fired when he had no choice.

“I told myself I was in danger when he was only a few meters away, so I figured what I could do. I had to shoot him,” says Artur Khaimov.

He emphasized that he did everything possible to avoid shooting, and it hurts him that he shot the man.

” He is a man, not an animal to be killed. He was also a man… We are humans, we are not animals. I'm not used to such a situation, to shoot at a person. I feel sorry for him, but he brought it on himself,” Khaimov said.
