Sgt. Asil Suaed, a 22-year-old fighter of the Magava, died from wounds received in the attack on the Shuafat checkpoint. The fighter and a civilian guard were checking the bus at the checkpoint, and the 13-year-old terrorist attacked the fighter with a knife and wounded him. In response, a civilian guard fired at the terrorist and hit the fighter. The terrorist, Muhammad Bassel Fathi Zalbani, a resident of the Shuafat refugee camp, was neutralized and arrested.
Suaed, a resident of Hosnia, served on a permanent basis in the Magava in Jerusalem. He was drafted into the army in March 2019 for military service and served in the same company. His friends said: “The happiest person, always helped everyone, was ready to perform any task and loved the service, protecting the security of Israel.”
