The Baraka nuclear power plant is designed to withstand even powerful earthquakes, such as the recent one in Turkey and Syria
According to the Federal Office for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) UAE:
“We have already evaluated the Baraka NPP from the perspective of Fukushima. Before we issued a license for the construction of the first power unit in 2012, we carried out a thorough assessment of the aspects that need to be taken into account: seismicity, flooding, tsunamis, etc. All these types of hazards that can affect the nuclear power plant, we have assessed, made improvements to the safety systems and approved,” & ndash; said Christer Viktorsson, CEO of FANR.
