By 2024, AirSeed Technology, an Australian company, plans to plant a total of 100 million plants by 2024, dropping specially designed seed capsules as part of the fight against the effects of fires and deforestation. More than 50,000 trees have already been planted this way.
Compared to traditional methods of sowing seeds, it is 25 times faster and five times cheaper.
Each drone is refueled before takeoff seed capsules that are compatible with the habitat they will enter. The capsules are made from biomass waste, providing a coating that protects the grains from birds, insects and rodents.
