 Apple Expands Mac and iPhone Self Repair Practice in Europe

Apple Inc. will begin enabling customers in eight European countries to self-repair their devices, expanding on a program that was launched in the US earlier this year.

Known as Self Service Repair, the offering will now allow users in France, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Spain, UK, Italy and Sweden to buy spare parts for iPhone SE, iPhone 12, iPhone 13 and some laptops online so they can do their own repairs. Under the program, a customer can rent a large repair tool kit for approximately 60 euros ($63), purchase individual parts, and receive repair manuals from Apple.

Apple does not recommend that most consumers repair their devices themselves, but repair rights groups have been urging the company for years to allow the practice. The program was first launched in the US in April,
